Brian Moore Files for Governor of Florida as a Green

"On March 16, Brian P. Moore filed in the Green Party primary to run for Governor of Florida. His Lieutenant Governor running mate is Jennifer Sullivan.

The Green Party has been ballot-qualified in Florida for 22 years, but never before has it had any statewide nominees (except president). This is largely because the filing fees are so high.

The gubernatorial filing fee for a party member is $8,050.86.  Moore was the Socialist Party presidential nominee in 2008.

No left-leaning minor party has been on the ballot for Governor of Florida since 1920, when the Socialist Party ran F. C. Whitaker.  He received 2.13% of the vote. The Communist Party, the Socialist Workers Party, the Party for Socialism and Liberation, the Peace & Freedom Party, and the Justice Party, have been on the Florida ballot in the past or currently, but none of them has ever run for Governor of Florida.”

Spring Hill, March 20, 2022:

For the first time in 102 years, the state of Florida has a Socialist candidate running for Governor.

Now it is time to offer Floridians a better choice than an increasing Fascist incumbent Republican Governor and a do-nothing former Republican governor (Democratic Congressman Charlie Crist).

Floridians now have a clear and different choice; a genuine Socialist, versus a cancel-woke-culture candidate and a Republican-lite candidate.

We need a Governor who will act in a pro-active manner, offering positive and constructive programs.   This Governor will make certain that no child goes hungry in Florida, that the homeless will not be neglected in Florida and that this Governor will extend health care to all Floridians living in the state.

We need to fix our housing market. Right now, people are being priced out of their homes and another housing bubble is forming.

As Governor, our administration will stop this.  I will implement a Homeowners Protection Program.  This calls for the establishment of a state agency that would place banks in Florida under protection, freeze all existing home mortgages for a period of time, adjust mortgage values to fair prices, restructure existing mortgages at appropriate interest rates, and write off speculative debt obligations of mortgage-backed securities.

We will also implement a foreclosure moratorium, allowing homeowners to make the equivalent of rental payments for an interim period, put an end to bank bail-outs, forcing banks to reorganize under bankruptcy laws.

We will also seize abandoned homes under eminent domain and use them to provide affordable housing.

We will establish a State-run bank, Flori-bank, to take on the risky and at-risk mortgages, and provide affordable low interest mortgages to low and medium income residents.

That's how we will make Florida affordable for everyone.

Crist/Taddeo criticized for traveling to Puerto Rico while Florida citizens experience problems at home.

March 27, 2022:

Green Party gubernatorial candidate Brian Moore criticized Democratic gubernatorial candidates Charlie Crist and Annette Taddeo for their recent and planned trips to Puerto Rico, while neglecting all Florida citizens' mounting housing, healthcare and economic problems at home.
Moore said it was an "obvious ploy to gain votes" from the one million Puertoricans living in Florida.

Moore also called for the United States Congress to "grant the the world's oldest colony," the Commonwealth Island of Puerto Rico, "its independence!”  When the United States military invaded Puerto Rico in 1898, our government immediately removed Puerto Rico’s own Spanish-speaking parliament, censored-the-press, and assigned Americans to all leadership positions on the island.

The antiwar candidate, who has spoken out vehemently against the US sending an increasing number of arms to Ukraine, has also stated that the United States "has been complicit in forcing President Putin’s hand.”   Moore wonders if there is an analogy of the US actions in Puerto Rico over a century ago, compared to Russia’s recent invasion of Ukraine.

Moore blamed the build up of American nuclear arms in six countries in Europe and the encroaching NATO membership countries, for causing the Russians to become paranoid about the West’s "creeping threat to Russia's national security.”  Moore added, while President Putin is to be condemned for his invasion and massacre of innocent civilians in Ukraine, the United States" also has blood on its hands in creating this catastrophic condition and adding increasing dangers to the world.”

Moore has stated in his initial platform statement on www.twopartytyranny.org/Moore4gov, that President "Biden should demand that Ukraine and Russia mutually agree to an immediate truce," instead of Mr. Biden stoking the fires "by calling Putin names and accusing him of war crimes."  Moore also stated in his gubernatorial platform that President Zalenskyy "should remove all the Neo-Nazi groups" that have infiltrated his entire federal and local governments, and "commit to banning any US weapons from being put in the hands of these paramilitary fascist groups" officially recognized by President Zalenskyy and his government.

Brian Patrick Moore served in the United States Peace Corps for almost three years in the countries of Panama and Peru.  He trained prior to that assignment for three months in an American camp, while living the entire time with a poor Puerto Rican farmer and his wife and 13 children.  Moore visited all areas of the island almost every weekend while there.  During the 7-day break prior to his departure from Miami, Moore hitchhiked to and from Washington, DC to participate with hundreds of thousands of mostly young Americans to protest the Vietnam war from November 14-17, 1969.

Ms. Gross, I listened to your interview for the first half hour on the Ukraine crisis with the female professor and author, Anne Applebaum.  Ironically, she wrote a book previously about the "The Seductive Lure of Authoritarianism" in our global society, but never mentioned one word about the huge influence the Neo-Nazis, ultra nationalists and fascist groups have had on the Ukraine government, past and present.  Part of her study included Poland, a neighbor of Ukraine.  Our US Congress and CIA, according many American publications, financed these right-wing extremists to undermine the Presidency of Viktor Yushchenko in 2014 (democratically elected), who rejected efforts to join NATO and was pro-Russia.  Ukraine President Zelenskyy and his predecessor, Petro Porochenko, have tolerated, appointed and officially recognized these groups in various governmental positions.  They have even approved of their vigilante groups to guard the streets throughout the entire country!  They have been guilty of many acts of violence against lesbians and gays, and antiwar activists.  Plus, America has broken its agreements with Russia, in 1990, by Washington promising not to extend NATO beyond the borders of a unified Germany, not to deploy thousands of NATO troops in Eastern Europe and not to meddle in the internal affairs of nations on Russia’s border.  I heard none of this from Ms. Applebaum, nor from Jan White's 1A program on Ukraine.  America has blood on its hands, and are just as guilty of war crimes, as does Russia.  Russia was unfairly treated and tricked by America.  However, it does not justify an invasion.  Both countries should be held accountable.

Spring Hill, Florida, March 7, 2022:   Five antiwar demonstrators appeared in Inverness, Florida, last Saturday morning, March 5th, to protest the Ukraine-Russia conflict.  They called for Diplomacy over War, and urged the United States to stop sending lethal weapons to Ukraine as gestures of support.  They urged peaceful negotiations instead.

Brian Moore said that the US actions are "provocative, reckless and dangerous," which could "lead to a war all over Europe, or even turn to a nuclear holocaust globally.

The demonstrators estimated that between 500 and 1,000 cars and trucks passed by the 90-minute demonstration, on both sides of a four-lane highway intersection (State Road 44) in the heart of Inverness, Florida (11:15 AM until 12:45 PM).
They were pleasantly surprised that of a ratio of 2-1 or 3-1 of those who verbally or physically responded, the majority were supportive and agreed with the demonstrators messages, while there were 4-5 angry responses, comments and hand-gestures from other people as well.

Moore recollected that when they demonstrated against the Iraq War from 2002 through 2010, at the same location, as well as in nearby Pasco and Hernando counties, they and other demonstrators experienced the same familiar hostility and police surveillance, and expressions of “being unpatriotic,” until the real facts came out vindicating their efforts.  He feels the "same will happen today" with regard to Ukraine and Russia, except that the consequences are "much more catastrophic to think of.

“No War with Russia Over Ukraine”

--Activists To Take to the Streets in The Villages to Protest Against a U.S.-Russian War

February 4, 2022, Spring Hill, Florida  — Three antiwar peace groups in WestCentral Florida are joining forces with Code Pinks nationwide efforts to protest a potential U.S.-Russian war, which could result from the growing crisis between Ukraine and Russia.

The “No War with Russia Over Ukraine” protest will be held at the Gold Dome Building  7375 Powell Rd, Wildwood, FL 34785, from 10:00 am until 12:00 noonSaturday  February 5, 2022.  Wildwood is in the southernmost area of The Villages, within Sumter County.

PeaceAction (Al Mytty), Trade Justice Alliance (Hariett Heywood) and the NatureCoast Coalition for Peace & Justice, are based in Marion, Citrus and Hernando counties respectively.

Following the Biden administration’s announcement that 3,000 U.S. troops are being moved to Eastern Europe in response to the Ukraine crisis with Russia, protestors are taking to the streets across the world to raise the alarm about the dangers of a U.S.-Russia war and call for de-escalation and diplomacy.

CODEPINK and other anti-war organizations called for the global day of protest because the only sane course of actions the U.S. can take is a commitment to diplomacy with serious negotiations, not military escalation – which could easily spiral out of control to the point of pushing the world to the precipice of nuclear war.

Brian Moore, Coordinator of the Naturecoast Coalition, urges all citizens "take the initiative now to speak out for de-escalation and diplomacy, and to urge the United States from sending $500 million in military armaments to Ukraine"

While both sides are to blame for causing this crisis, its roots are entangled in the failure of the U.S. government to live up to its promise made in 1990 by then-Secretary of State James Baker that NATO would expand not “one inch to the East.” Since 1999, NATO has expanded to include numerous countries, including some that border Russia. Rather than dismissing out of hand the Russian government’s current insistence on a written guarantee that Ukraine will not become part of NATO, the U.S. government should agree to a long-term moratorium on any NATO expansion.

CODEPINK Protests are taking place this weekend in numerous cities such as Los Angeles, Washington, D.C., New York City, Chicago, Portland Oregon, Minneapolis, Minnesota, Asheville, North Carolina, and many more.

Ukraine War Protest receives surprising support from The Villages

—12 Antiwar Activists Took to the Streets in The Villages to Protest Against a U.S.-Russian War

Tuesday, February 8, 2022, The Villages, Florida  —

Antiwar demonstrators expressed surprise at the amount of positive responses of support they received from passersby Saturday morning in “ The Villages,” who honked their car, truck and golf cart horns, gave thumbs up and even yelled words of encouragement from car windows.  “We should have expected such a reaction since we were in a very conservative community which is considered either Trump or Republican country,” said Brian Moore, one of the participants.    "However, we were so worried on getting a good turnout, as The Villages is geographically centered, that we forgot we could touch a responsive nerve and win such disarming aid and help from the majority of passing residents.”

Al Mytty, the main organizer of the event, and one of three participating demonstrators from The Villages, agreed saying “The possibility of war in Ukraine is an issue that all Americans should oppose, regardless of political persuasion.”   Mytty added

that “Congress and Biden will fund more for war and weapons, but not budget for peace.”

12  antiwar activists from various parts of Central Florida (Orlando, Homosassa, Lewiston, Spring Hill and The Villages) protested the Ukraine border crisis with Russia.  The demonstrators were concerned at America’s armaments being sent to Ukraine and sending U.S. troop support to nearby neighboring NATO countries.

Trade Justice Alliance (Harriet Heywood of Homosassa), Veterans for Peace (Army Veteran and former Lewiston, ME, Mayor, Larry Gilbert of the Villages, and his wife, Pat), World Beyond War (Al Mytty of The Villages), PeaceAction (David Gibson), and the NatureCoast Coalition for Peace & Justice from Spring Hill were the sponsoring groups based in Marion, Citrus, Orange and Hernando counties respectively.   Bob Horner, Leader of Partners For Peace-Florida, a U.S. Air Force retiree from Orlando, and his wife, were some of the other antiwar participants.

The peace groups in Central Florida joined forces with CODEPINK’s nationwide efforts to protest a potential U.S.-Russian war, which could result from the growing crisis between Ukraine and Russia.

Letters to the Editor-

Ukraine

March 3, 2022

Our hearts and prayers go out to the people of Ukraine.

However, we must realize, we, America, are at fault for the Russian invasion as well.  We funded decades of anti-Russian activity in Ukraine, ultimately leading to the ouster of the Democratically elected President of Ukraine in 2014.  We fostered right-wing nationalist paramilitaries and anti-Russian activities with public funding from our U.S. Congress, plus the CIA, within Ukraine.

The subsequent Ukraine administrations since 2014, including that of the present leader, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and its army and national guard, have all been infiltrated and officially allowed to operate with Neo-Nazis and fascists.  These groups have been violent toward antiwar protesters, gay groups and pro-democratic demonstrators in Ukraine.  The blood is on our hands, as with Russia, as to the invasion of Ukraine.

Russia took the U.S. bait, and over-reacted.   We need for our country and all others as well, to stop sending new armaments to Ukraine.  NATO needs to withdraw its ballistic missiles from eastern European member countries bordering Russia.  Russia needs to cease its bellicose actions.

And America must stop meddling, then we can have peace in Ukraine, as well as in other countries around the world.

Women's Rights-

March 3, 2022

Governor Ron DeSantis represents the worst the GOP has to offer. Restricting the rights of women. Restricting the rights of businesses and communities to implement safety policies they want. Restricting the use of words. To top it off,
he wants to create an election police to "monitor" voting. In other words, Gov. DeSantis is Big Brother from 1984.

How can he claim that Florida is a state supporting “freedom for citizens” when he imposes all these restrictions, penalties, state allocation of funding blockage,
job threats, etc.  While the Democrats have their own cancel culture, the Republicans, and Mr. DeSantis, represent another type of cancel culture:  our freedoms and democratic rights for fairness and equal treatment!

Women's Rights-

March 3, 2022

The Fl. legislature should not dictate what is appropriate actions which only a woman can do.

Abortion is a painful decision that only she has to make.

Why cannot the Florida legislature focus on other important issues like fully feeding, clothing, housing and health care for every child born in Florida?

STOP focusing on children in the womb! Do something positive instead of imposing restrictions, limitations and rigid rules!

Governor DeSantis declares that under his administration Florida has “freedom"and "individual rights" over government mandates. Well, a law that will prohibit doctors from performing abortions after 15 weeks of pregnancy is a huge restriction.

Governor DeSantis also said he is “supportive of blocking abortion after 15 weeks since he finds this new restriction “reasonable.” Since when does a restriction connote “freedom?"

Plus, the Governor's so-called “freedom state” is violating the Florida constitution!

The right to life involves being concerned about poverty, homelessness, healthcare, wars, gun violence, etc.  Where are the evangelical and Catholic churches, and the state legislature, when it comes to taking
a public stand on issues?  Why is the emphasis on sex only?

Ukraine

March 10, 2022

ALBA Board of Governors:

Would appreciate your reconsideration of the February 24, 2022 “Statement on Invasion of Ukraine,” published on-line in reference to Russian President Putin’s “perverting the concept of anti-fascism and his violation of human rights."

While Russia is despotic in its institutions and leadership, this does not excuse the United State’s intervention and support of a country with a long history of ethnic cleansing of Jews, Poles and ethnic minorities during WW II & I; nor of its authoritarian history.  Plus, Ukraine’s four successive governments, since 2014, only came to power after the overthrow of a democratically elected government, and with the help of far-right fascist groups.

A well-established rightwing extremist movement in the form of Neo-Nazi and white supremacist groups caused the Ukrainian government overthrow in 2014.  And it continues today.

Many reputable US publications and media reported that the US Congress publicly funded clandestine right wing, neo-Nazi and ultra-nationalists groups, with over $5 billion dollars since the late 1990’s (US Undersecretary of State, V. Nuland, 2013).  The American support helped undermine the democratically elected president, Viktor Yanukovych (2010-2014), because he was pro-Russian and did not push for membership in NATO.  Furthermore, our own CIA was covertly involved with right-wing paramilitary extremists in undermining President Yanukovych.  And the financial and military support continues up to the present day.

The American public and clandestine intervention, for the past 25 years, makes our country complicit in setting the stage for the invasion of Ukraine in 2022.

The Ukraine government, to this day, officially tolerates these militia groups to monitor the Ukrainian streets and neighborhoods throughout the country.  These fascist militias (Patriot of Ukraine, Svoboda, Right Sector & Azov Battalion) have infiltrated the Ukraine National Guard, the Ukraine Army itself, and almost every Ukraine governmental department and agency.  Ukraine is now emerging as a favored right wing destination for European nations and American extremist groups.

It is now being reported that an international brigade of 20,000 soldiers, are present in Ukraine, similar to what was done in 1936 in the Spanish Civil War.   However, the Spanish War’s international Volunteers traveled to support a democratic country, and primarily a government that was put in power by fair and democratic elections, not by a fascist civilian coup.

Ironically, last year’s ALBA/Puffin Human Rights Award recipient was credited with medically addressing the underserved gay and lesbian communities.  And this year’s announced winner is an organization that de-programs right wing extremists and neo-Nazis.  Yet, Ukraine’s right wing groups, in the February, 2014 overthrow of the Ukrainian president, Viktor Yanukovych, were guilty of violently attacking the LBGT communities, its demonstrators, and even stabbing them with knives, almost causing the death of one of its gay members.

The emphasis by ALBA Board's statement should have been in encouraging US/NATO diplomacy with Russia.  It should have been done in light of the United States refusal to previously consider requests by Russian President Putin on Ukraine’s non-membership in NATO, and to pull back NATO armaments on Russia’s border.   Had the US acknowledged and agreed to the potential threat Russia feels, and for its acquisition of Crimea and the Eastern front, they could have totally avoided any Russian invasion of Ukraine in the first place.

Now the situation is more precarious, with any small event causing a US war with Russia, or initiate a catastrophic use of nuclear weapons.  A diplomatic agreement was the responsible action for the United States and NATO to have taken.  And ALBA should have acknowledged that in its statement as well.

The ALBA Board’s position contradicts the legacy of the Abraham Lincoln Volunteers, what they represent, and what they stood and died for.  It was a call to protect democracy, to fight fascism, and to demonstrate principled courage despite public opinion.

The Board's statement is a safe position, criticizing an invading country and making no fair reference to Russia’s legitimate threats to its national security.  Nor did the Board acknowledge America’s long-term role, and Ukraine’s extensive anti-democratic and pro-fascist background.

The ALBA Board’s reconsideration in this matter should be taken.
